Our Vision

To empower women and children who have been hurt, abused and rejected so that they are afforded the opportunity to regain control of their lives and re-establish their dignity by providing long-term (up to 18 months) transitional housing, positive mentoring and coaching and supportive services through the love of Jesus Christ.

The emphasis is on permanent behavioral and life style changes by forming healthy relationships and healthy support networks that will enable the women and their children to be successful as they make the transition from D.O.V.E to independent living.

To establish partnerships with local community organizations that will make a commitment to sponsor a family that is facing hardship and that will commit to being a part of the family’s support network.

Guidlines

The established guidelines for Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home allow residents to enjoy a well balanced, caring, nurturing and supportive experience without unnecessary distractions or disruptions.  One of the goals of Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home is to provide mothers and their children the opportunity to reside in a safe and relaxed atmosphere.  The following guidelines reflect the choices, responsibilities, and behaviors that are necessary for a safe and pleasant home life. 

Reporting Violations.  Should any resident become aware or suspect that another resident is using non-approved substances, or has engaged in any other risky behavior, that resident is required to discreetly disclose information to staff immediately.

Drugs & Alcohol.  Alcohol and/or illegal substances are never allowed on the Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home premises. This includes cigarettes/cigars or tobacco products.

Behavior Towards Others.  Name calling, racist, sexist, vulgar or any other sort of abusive language towards the staff, residents or children is prohibited (even your own child).  Profanity or inappropriate language of any nature, to include jokes, may never be used in the home.  This includes movies that are rented or purchased and brought into the home. 

Gossip. It’s not allowed, even if you think you have the facts. Think about how you would feel if it were you that others were talking about behind your back.

Sexual Contact Between Residents. Residents are not allowed to spend the night in each other’s room. Inappropriate touching is not allowed.

No Contact List. Residents that have friends or family members that do not have the best interest of the resident in mind will not be allowed to communicate with the resident at all. The residents’ team will be contacted if needed to provide boundaries related to healthy and unhealthy relationships.

Community Support Services.  All residents are required to engage in community services.  During the summer there will be a garden planted and community services can be spent gardening, however, during the winter months residents will be required to spend a total of 12 hours a month in community services.

Employment /School. Residents are required to have and maintain a full time job. Residents who choose to go to school may attend school part time but they must also be employed at a minimum of 4 hours a day while enrolled in school.

Mail.  Residents may receive mail at the home after thirty days. Please DO NOT give out the address to the home to friends and family members unless authorized by staff. For obvious reasons the address of the home is to be kept confidential unless there are service providers that need to know the address in order to provide services and support.

Resident Room Searches.  In order for the home to remain a place of safety D.O.V.E. reserves the rights to conduct room searches.  Resident’s rooms may be entered and searched at any time without notice.   Residents DO NOT need to be present for room searches to occur.  Law enforcement will be contacted if drugs or drug paraphernalia or weapons are found anywhere on the premises to include vehicles on the premises.  Any illegal substances found in rooms or on the premises will result in immediate eviction from the home.  Rooms are required to be neat and orderly. In the event that rooms are not kept tidy (i.e., dirty laundry, clothing on floor, bed unmade, dirty carpet, etc) the resident will be notified of the infractions. Resident will be required to correct the infractions the same day as notified. If infractions go uncorrected D.O.V.E staff will clean the resident’s room for them and a fee of $25.00 will be added to their rent for each time the room has to be cleaned by D.O.V.E. (For example-If D.O.V.E staff have to clean a residents room for infractions three times in one month that resident will be required to pay seventy-five dollars in addition to their rent for the month in which the infractions occur.  This should not be a problem for those who clean up after themselves).  Please refrain from moving furniture around in the room unless cleared with D.O.V.E. staff. Any personal belongings left behind when a resident leaves permanently will be stored for 48 hours, and then donated to a local charity if arrangements are not made.  Please DO NOT fastened anything to the walls (i.e., photos, certificates, artwork, etc.) Any damage to room, intentionally or otherwise, resident will be required to pay for repairs.

House Security & Privacy.  All windows at Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home will remain closed and locked at all times.  All exterior doors must be kept locked. Home security cameras are in place for your security. Please refrain from tampering or moving cameras or other security equipment. 

Music.  Headphones should be used when listening to music. Please be mindful and respectful of others and turn the volume down so that others are not disturbed.

Pets.  Are not allowed at Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home.   

Automobiles. Are allowed at Daughters of Virtue Eternal Transition Home as long as the resident can show proof of registration, insurance, current tags and driver’s license.  If a car is not registered to the resident, the owner must submit a notarized letter giving the resident permission to use the car.  Abandoned vehicles are not allowed on the premises and will be towed unless arrangements have been made.  Resident is responsible for vehicle maintenance. Vehicles are not allowed to sit unmaintained for more than thirty (30) days on the premise. Any leaks/stains on the premises will be required to be cleaned by the resident. Vehicles will be towed at the residence’s expense if they are not maintained within the thirty day period. Residents who leave the home permanently must make arrangements for their inoperable vehicle. Unless arrangements are made any inoperable vehicle will be towed within ten (10) days of residents’ departure.  Resident’s automobiles may be subject to search if it is kept on the premises of D.O.V.E.

Household Chores.  Each resident is responsible for keeping their own bedroom clean (make beds, pick up trash off floor, empty trash can daily, wash dirty clothing, etc).  In addition, each resident is responsible for completing at least one general household chore and at least one kitchen chore every day.  Most residents will have more than one chore to complete.  Chores must be completed within the time allotted on the schedule. Please do not ask other residents if they will complete your chore for you.

Personal Hygiene. Residents and their children must practice general hygiene. This means showering/bathing daily and brushing your teeth at least twice daily.  Residents are expected to wash their hair as often as is necessary to maintain good hygiene and a neat appearance.  Residents that share a bathroom must practice time management. Please ensure that if you need to shower you take no longer than a thirty minute shower, especially if someone else is waiting for you to finish. If possible night showers/baths may save you some valuable time in the morning.

Trash.  All trash must be in a trash bag and the trash bag must be tied securely when being dumped into the large trash receptacle.  Trash must be emptied from resident’s rooms, kitchen and common areas daily.

Dirty Diapers.  Dirty diapers must be placed in a plastic bag, secured with a tie tab, and placed in an outside trash bin immediately.  Soiled/Dirty diapers may not be placed in any indoor trash container. Please DO NOT change diapers on sofa. Diapers may be changed in the bathroom or in your bedroom.

Disposal of Sanitary Products.  Sanitary products are to be placed in a plastic bag and then sealed and placed in the trash can.  This includes all wrappers/tubes/tampons/pads, etc. even if the product states that it is disposable, nothing should be flushed down the toilet.  Trash should then be emptied in the large outside trash bin the following morning.

Electrical Items.  All hair dryers, hair curlers, curling irons, blow dryers and heating pads must be unplugged from the wall socket.  Candles are not allowed in the home.

Laundry.  A laundry schedule is posted in the laundry room.  Residents may only do laundry during their scheduled time.  Residents must never overload the washer or dryer.  Residents are required to check and clean the lint filters in the dryers before and after each use.  Machines may not be used after 9:00 pm.  Residents must clean up any mess that they make during laundering.  Clean clothes must be folded or hung up and put away immediately after being laundered. Please adhere to the schedule for laundering your clothing and please take all clothing out of washers immediately when they are finished drying. 

Meal Planning & Food Preparation, Kitchen Chores.  Each resident will be required to plan, grocery shop and prepare their own meals.  If a resident is allergic to specific foods that food will not be allowed in the home. The kitchen and dining room must be cleaned after every meal.  Residents will not sit a child on the table during meals. High chairs or booster seats must be used.  Residents are responsible for cleaning up after themselves and their children when preparing personal meals.  Under no circumstances will dirty dishes be left in the sink or on top of the counters.  Residents that agree to cook meals together are welcomed to do so. Leftovers must be stored in an airtight/sealed container and placed in the refrigerator.

Eating & Drinking.  Residents are only allowed to eat and drink at the dining room table.  Residents may not have any food or beverages, other than water, in the house outside of the kitchen and dining room.  Food and beverages, other than water, are never allowed in resident rooms.  If it doesn’t belong to you please don’t assume that it’s okay for you to borrow, ask permission prior to using someone else food.

Kitchen Safety & Hygiene.  Residents may not comb their hair in the kitchen or dining room areas.  Residents must wash their hands with soap and hot water before handling food in the kitchen, even if the only food they will be handling is their own.  Parental supervision is required for children in the kitchen at all times. Safety knobs must be in place on the stove if small children are present in the home.  Knives and other sharp instruments must be kept out of the reach of children.  The stove and oven may not be left on without direct supervision of those appliances. That means you should not put something on the stove or in the oven and go and take a nap or run out to the store and leave the food cooking.

Maintenance Issues. If maintenance issues arise, big or small please bring it to the attention of D.O.V.E. staff.  Residents are not to repair or make any attempts to repair a broken item.  Emergency maintenance issues should be brought to the attention of D.O.V.E. staff immediately.

Transportation.  D.O.V.E. provides transportation on a limited basis. Each resident will be required to provide a copy of their schedule.  Transportation will only be utilized for essential activities such as work, doctor’s appointments, etc.  Residents will be responsible for ensuring that their child has a car seat, as legally required, and that it is installed properly.  There will be no eating, drinking, smoking or use of profanity in the vehicle. 
Service Fees.  D.O.V.E. provides residents with shelter, utilities, transportation and supportive services during their stay.  Residents are required to pay fees each month to cover a small portion of these monthly expenses.  Monthly fees are $450.00 per month. 

Refund Policy.  D.O.V.E. has a NO REFUND policy.

Children’s Bedtimes.  Bedtimes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers is not later than 9:00 pm each night.  Staff at the home realizes that new residents may need extra time in helping their children adjust to healthy and consistent bedtime patterns.

Supervision.  Children must be actively supervised at all times. Parents leaving their children unsupervised is not allowed.

Discipline.  Each parent is responsible for her own child’s discipline.  Any abuse and/or neglect will be reported to Department of Child Services immediately.  If you are unsure what constitutes abuse or neglect please ask before you proceed.  If a child’s behavior is repeatedly disruptive residents are required to work with their support network to develop and follow a behavior management plan for the child.

Fully Clothed At All Times.  Residents and their children must be fully clothed any time they leave their bedrooms, this includes after going to bed at night and when getting up in the morning.  When getting up in the night to use the bathroom, or going from the bedroom to the bathroom in the morning for a shower, or from the shower to the bedroom at night, pajamas or a robe will qualify as fully clothed.  Pajamas and nightgowns will be allowed in the house common areas, such as the living room, dining room, etc., as long as the residents wear a robe over the pajamas or nightgowns.  Residents must wear bedtime clothing to bed each night, sleeping nude is not allowed.  Residents must wear appropriate undergarments, to include bras and panties whenever they are outside of their bedroom.

Hair Coloring-Is NOT allowed at D.O.V.E.
